Erika N. Turner is a writer from Las Vegas, NV and attends school at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She is motivated by the strength and struggle of women and the admiration of those who can stand strong despite the brutality of life. Her passion for writing is rooted in the hope that her readers will see parts of themselves in her words.
By writing, I claim myself and the people I belong to, who can’t write for themselves… the women and voices I carry on my back.
In fiction, she hopes to create characters of diverse cultural and class backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, and interests that speak to the multi-faceted beauty of human differences. In non-fiction, she hopes readers can identify with her personal experiences and struggles and be inspired to tell their own stories.
Erika is also a Point Scholar from the 2011 class and has won over 30 local and national writing awards in journalism and creative writing. Her writing have been published in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Best Teen Writing of 2008, and Crowned with Thorns, an international Christian newsletter published by the Buraku Liberation League in Kyoto, Japan.
