Sarahi Yajaira
Associate Editor, Health and Wellness

latina. lesbian. woman. commander-in-chief of my one-woman army fighting social injustice and oppression through spoken word. i am writing. not the act of writing but the art of writing. i am words. words that heal.

i’ve been in love with the art of writing since i was five-years-old, when my aunt gave me a journal and said, “express yourself creatively. find words to say what you are feeling.”

i want my work to encourage people who have been lead to believe that they must remain silent to regain their voice. i want my work to transcend and expand the concept of latina Love; to challenge the stereotypes of what we, for too long, have been told are our roles and responsibilities. i know that through my writing i can heal others, bring light to injustices and/or simply spread love.”
